Grotesque to beauty
“…they shall rebuild the old ruins; they shall raise up the former desolations and they shall repair the ruined cities the desolations of many generations.” – Isaiah 61:4
A certain castle in Scotland that was constructed in the ancient architectural style is known for a very special room. Those who visit the castle used to paint the walls of that room. But once the room was designed and painted artistically and was appealing. Due to the blast of a storing boiler, the walls were full of stains and the beauty of the walls was marred by the explosion. Sir Edwin Landseer, the greatest British architect noticed the hard and permanent stains. Using his craftsmanship, he converted the stains into an awesome painting. There is a silvery waterfall as the background and with majestic rocks and stately trees and an elegant stag. He had brought life to his painting. It is considered to be one of the most stunning mountain sceneries. The grotesque walls have become the center of attraction and a scene to be seen.
We might have grown spiritually and once our spiritual life might have pleased God. Then we struggle and find ourselves getting side tracked from the things of God. Our good traits and spiritual experiences diminish due to the stains of sin. We may be weary thinking if there is any possibility of thriving the sublime experiences we had in the former days and if we can regain our prayer life of the past. We need not get distressed. Our Lord is mighty and He created everything out of nothing. He set everything right on the earth when it was barren with no form of life. He is powerful to bless us with lofty experiences. He will recreate us and give us a better state in our lives. He can change ugliness into fairness, defeat into victory, a desert into a pool of water and dryland into flowing springs.
If we surrender ourselves to God, He will renew and revive our spirit. He can beautify and make us a fountain of blessings to others.
