Holiness and ecstasy

 

“Wash me thoroughly from mu iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin” - Psalms 51:2

 

In the modern age, young people are confronted with the tests of adversity in everything and everywhere. Many of them struggle with some addictions. Some youngsters wrestle against temptations and many others contends with modern technology available in the palm of their hands. When they encounter and wrestle with enticements, there arises a question, whether it is possible to live a life of holiness that pleases God and if there is any way out from all these struggles. The craving for an answer can be seen in the eyes of the youths who know Jesus. 

 

Having accepted Christ Jesus as our savior, we should be diligent and dare not give room for lust or sin. Venial sin will engulf our spiritual life. Dead flies putrefy the perfumer’s ointment and cause it to give off a foul odor. Young Joseph was precautious. When he was confronted with temptation that would stain his name, knowing very well that his garment would bear false witness against him, he was fleeing the scene saying, “How can I do this great wickedness and sin against God?” Though he was imprisoned, he rose to power and became the Lord of all Egypt. 

 

A man had rented out his house. The tenant asked the owner to hit only one nail on the wall. On the first day, only a bag was hanging from the nail on the wall. The next day he hung an umbrella on the nail. Then his dirty shirt was hung up. At last, a bag of stinky dried fish was added to the hangings on the nail. It smelt so bad that no one could bear it. So, he was made to vacate the house.

 

Beloved, after receiving the knowledge of truth and giving our heart to Jesus, if we yield to venial sin, it will corrupt the whole heart. Then how can God’s spirit reside within us? Our life is like the wall of a dam. If there is a small crack, there is a danger of being broken at any time. When there is a crack in our life, it should be fixed by the blood of Jesus. We can lead a holy life without any blemish or spot with the help of Christ Jesus. It will be easy to lead a holy life when we are in close fellowship with God always.
