Daily Devotion (English) – 06.11.2021

 

That increases and this decrease

 

“Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.” - Matthew 10:31

 

Santhiya came to her close friend Kala asking her why she was collecting her fallen hair so carefully. They were good friends right from childhood. Both of them were schoolmates as well as collegemates. In the recent days, the excessive hair loss was a big problem to Kala. There were bald patches on the scalp. She was losing her weight also. Moreover, she fell ill often. Santhiya thought that she had all these problems as she was a poor eater. Other than her family members, even her bosom friend Santhiya did not know that she was being treated for uterine cancer. She often wept and lamented over her miserable state in secret. The pain and agony she experienced affected her physically and mentally. She felt that it was better for her to die than to live. Thus, she finally resolved to end her life. When all had gone to sleep, she went to the terrace of the hostel quietly. Silence prevailed all around. But she could clearly hear the song from the adjacent house. So, she went to the corner and watched them. They began to read from the Bible. She was curious to know what they read. 

 

She thought of executing her plan, after listening to them for a few seconds. When she head that the very hairs of our heard are all numbered and we are of more value than many sparrows, she began to think. The word of God changed her mind. She ran to their house to know more about the loving God Jesus. Faith began to grow in her heart. She got rid of her fear and worry. Some of us who are affected by terminal diseases lose hope and become depressed. We need to help them out of their despair. We observe National Cancer Awareness Day, tomorrow to uphold and encourage them. 

 

Dear reader, if a family member or a relative of ours is facing the same problem like Kala, let us have faith in Jesus. We should never get weary or disheartened. Dollie freeman has written in a book that “Tumor shrinks as our faith grows” As faith increases the disease diminishes. Let us pray and be conquerors.
