A little lad who prayed 

 

“Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” – Proverbs 22:6

 

Baby Samuel was the answer to mother Hannah’s fervent prayer for a baby boy. Even when Samuel was in his mother’s womb, he was covered in prayer. After his birth, he grew up in a prayerful atmosphere. He was nurtured by his prayerful mother. As Hannah had promised to God, she took the child to the tabernacle to give him back to God. Thus, Samuel ministered to the Lord before Eli the priest. 

 

Samuel had the opportunity to stay in the place where he could feel closer to hear God’s voice and feel His presence. In the beginning he could not understand the voice of God. His prayer, “Speak, for your servant hears” tells us how humble, obedient and closer to God he was.

 

As we know, habits die hard and they become our nature. Thus, Samuel who ministered to the Lord and learnt to be obedient right from his childhood emerged as a prayer warrior. For sure the children who grow up with prayerful parents, will be obedient and eager to serve God. We need mothers with the spirit of grace and of supplication to stand in the gap to pray for the churches if it is necessary. Children who walk in a life of prayer are all the ones who are exposed to prayer at home and with prayerful mothers like Hannah. Praying leaders are formed in the houses of prayer.

 

Beloved, suppose Samuel was brought up by a worldly mother who walked in the way of the world without any thought about God, how would he be arisen? The steps taken by Hannah at his young age, shaped him into a prayer warrior. We must pray for our children if we want them to be God fearing and obedient. Family plays an important role in the spiritual growth of a child. Prayerless house is a roofless house. We need to take the children to church and send them to Sunday school without fail. There is no doubt that revival leaders will arise from our homes.
