Daily Devotion (English) – 14.10.2021

 

Eschew

 

“Turn at my rebuke; I will pour out my spirit on you; I will make my words known to you.” - Proverbs 1:23

           

It was heart breaking to hear about a tragedy that took place in a village recently. It was a family with three children. The widowed mother, who was a teacher brought them up with much struggle. Their family set a good example for the people around them. Under these circumstances, the son who was studying plus two, had an affair with a girl. There grew a wicked thought in his mind. One day, in a fit of passion, he approached her with a wrong motive. As he failed in it, he murdered the girl without thinking about the consequences. He was sent to prison. Unable to bear the disgrace and humiliation, both his sisters committed suicide. In deep mortification and despair, the mother became insane. When a reporter met the boy in the prison, he lamented with tears that he had brought shame to his family and destroyed the sweet home. At last, he killed himself because of his strong feeling of guilt.

           

Here, I would like to share something with you. Many people can discern no difference between holiness and unholiness. So, they indulge in adultery, fornication and on alcohol. In fact, children are addictive of watching T.V serials and cinemas right from childhood. The unworthy scenes and stories promote crimes and negative impact as they are worst without ethics. Naturally, they are driven into a sinful life style, at last, they take extreme measures. But they should come to know what Jesus accomplished for them. Jesus died on the cross shedding His holy blood to cleanse and sanctify us from sins and resurrected on the third day. Besides, before his ascension he assured “I will send the Holy Spirit, the comforter and He will convict the world of sins and of righteousness and of judgement. He will guide you into all truth.” 

           

When we accept Jesus Christ as our savior and redeemer, our sins are forgiven. Moreover, we receive the Holy Spirit. He dwells with us and stirs us to shun sin and to be holy. To reach our goal, we have to eschew sins and lead a holy life with delight. When we are in fellowship with Jesus, the Holy Spirit will abide with us forever and bless us. Shall we invite Jesus into our hearts?
