Daily Devotion (English) – 11.10.2021 

 

Keep the end in mind

 

“There is a way that seems right to a man but its end is the way of death.” - Proverbs 14:12

 

A certain farmer saw a waterfall while returning from his relative’s house. His eyes suddenly fell on the honeycomb hanging from the tree, that was near the waterfall. He climbed up the tree and was trying to take the honeycomb. A passer-by who noticed him, warned him saying, “Get down at once to save your life as the branch of the tree is about to break down.” Turning a deaf ear to his timely warning, he continued with his attempt to take the honeycomb. While he was descending with the honeycomb, the big branch broke and he fell into the water. He was caught and dragged into the water by the crocodile residing in that river. What a tragic end! 

 

In the Holy Bible we read that Samuel, the prophet was sent to Saul. He said to Saul, “The Lord of host says to you to go and attack Amalek and utterly destroy them.” Saul utterly destroyed all the people but spared king Agog and the best of the sheep, the oxen, the fatlings, the lambs and all that was good. So, God rejected him as he did not obey the voice of God and acted on his own. Samuel spoke to Saul with grief saying, “Why did you not obey the voice of the Lord? Why did you swoop down on the spoil and do evil in the sight of the Lord? You have rejected the word of the Lord. He also has rejected you from being the king. How terrible it is to be forsaken by the Lord! 

 

Beloved in Christ, at times do we act like Saul who rejected the word of God? Do we desire to follow the way that pleases us? Our adversary devil walks about like a roaring line seeking whom he may devour. We should never forget that if we get caught by him, eternal fire is the end. Whoever believes in God and trusts His words will inherit eternal life. So, let us find refuge under His wings and listen to His voice and walk in His ways and gain eternal life. Hallelujah!
