Raise 

 

“Then Phinehas stood up and intervened, and the plague was stopped.” - Psalm 106:30

 

On the way, when the Lord brought the generation of his friend Abraham from the deadly iron trumpet of Egypt to the land flowing with milk and honey, because of Balak, king of Moabites along with Balaam who was a person doing deception for money did treason, Israelites followed Baal of Peor to eat the sacrifices made for their gods and made the Lord to get angry. So, the plague came into them. We read verses from Psalm 106, that to stop the sin of adultery, which was the cause for the plague on Israelites, Phinehas stood up and did justice. When that incident which made our Lord to get angry, happened, Phinehas did not mix with the crowd that did sin. Like that, he was not in the crowd that saw it as fun. Contradictorily, he wept along with Moses at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. Because of that, he got the zeal and strength to kill Zimri and Cozbi. If we want to get zeal for the Lord, like this, we shall dedicate ourselves not like Samson who slept on the knees of Delilah, but like Jehu, who destroyed Jezebel, who put paint on her eyes, without getting attracted by her. 

 

One of the many advantages got by Phinehas, because he was zealous with the Lord’s zeal, as per Numbers 25:13, the Lord said ‘it shall be to him and his descendants after him a covenant of an everlasting priesthood.’ Not only this. We see, as per 1 Chronicles 9:20, the Lord also gave Phinehas the authority of a ruler over Israelites. Therefore, when we also stand up for Jesus and do things like this, the Lord will remove the plague from His people through us. We may know that He will bless us and our generation also. So, we shall ask and get the zeal, like Phinehas, from the Lord and shall live for His glory and for blessing to us and to our generation.
