Praising as Superior 

 

“If, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.” - Philippians 3:11

 

Syberian was a famous law professor. He did not know the Lord up to his age of 40 years. As soon as he accepted Jesus Christ, through his Christian friend Serivious, he got baptized. He became an evangelist who announces Christ. He sold his house to help the poor people. In his part of country, there was an epidemic because of which many children lost their parents and many parents lost their children. Also, there was famine. Syberian helped many people. Because of that, many people got life and accepted Christ. At that time, the Roman emperor Valerian, arrested Syberian because he preached Christ and imposed him death penalty. 

 

In Bible also, Paul, the apostle, when he spoke about himself, he informed that he was an Israelite; “Because I belong to tribe of Benjamin, Hebrew, Pharisee and got the power to make sufferings to the church because of my zeal. I got Officers’ goodwill. Even if I got so many greatnesses, before Christ these are nothing. In my life, Christ is superior than my life. Before Him, these greatnesses are nothing. So, I consider all these as not profit, but loss and waste. Knowledge about the Christ is the superior one. That wisdom is having the power to give me eternal life.” He preached the gospel of Christ in many parts by feeling that life is not greater than Christ and died for Him only.

 

Beloveds! Syberian was not an underprivileged person. He was Law professor, famous person and knowledge filled person. When he came to know Christ, he left his position, put the gospel of Christ as superior, lived his full life for Christ and died for Him. In the Bible, Paul also lived like that. He said that he thought all he had were just waste only. In your life, which one is the greatest one, for you? Do you think it is worldly education, wealth, fame and position? For these things, have you left Christ? Think for one minute. Let us reconcile with Him. Like Paul, we shall spend all for the sake of Christ and live for Him. We can lose anything for Christ. But we should not lose Christ for anything.
