Keep your good nature up

 

“Do not conformed to this world….” – Romans 12:2

 

A certain teacher entered her classroom with a 500-rupee banknote in her hand. She showed it to her students and asked what it was. The students answered that it was Rs.500/- note. She crushed and wrinkled the banknote and then put forth the same question. The students gave the same reply. Then she threw it in the trash can and asked the same question third time. The students repeated the same answer. Raja ran to the dustbin and took the banknote and gave it to his teacher. The teacher flattened the banknote by fixing the wrinkles and said, “It is a 500-rupee banknote no matter whether it is in our hands or in our purse or in the trash can because its value is the same. Its value does not change. We too must never give up our natural good characteristics under any circumstances. We must exhibit our good traits always. 

 

Even though Joseph was his father’s favorite, he loved his brothers and was kind to them. When he was hated by his brothers because of his dream, when they cast him into a pit and when they sold him to Ishmaelites as a slave, he was so loving. He endured the evil done to him with love. When he was put in prison unjustly, he bore the hardships and he asked after his fellow inmates lovingly and helped them. When he became the second in command in Egypt, he forgave his brothers and showed them his lovingkindness. After his father’s death, his brothers were afraid that Joseph would pay them back for their evil. But he had unconditional love for them. Even in his afflictions and hardships, he did not show hatred or enmity towards others. Under all circumstances, unmindful of the behavior of others, he remained the same without any change in his good characteristics. 

 

Beloved, how about us? Do we keep up our good nature and character traits in all temptations and circumstances we encounter? Or else do we murmur in troubles and in testing time? Let us ponder. Let us take a resolution, not to change our good nature and character traits by all means at any place and in any situation.
