The Judgment seats

 

“But why do you judge your brother...for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of judgment.” – Romans 14:10 

 

The following request was made by someone, to be done to the dictator Hitler who killed lakhs of people. “When you throw Hitler into the hell, let the hell be made hotter several times than it is now.” What he wished was that the retribution given to him must be more horrible than the hell itself. But what does the Bible say? “Do not judge others” because we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ. It is not the selected few who are condemned as deadly sinners by others but everyone must report to give an account for our work. So do not pronounce any judgment before the time. Moreover, it is none of our business. 

 

When Jesus was at the temple in Jerusalem the scribes and Pharisees brought a woman caught in the act of adultery and set her in the midst. They wanted to stone her to death Jesus said, “He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.” Being convicted by their conscience all the accusers went away. They could identify a person who sinned openly. But the Lord knows the secret of our hearts. He ideally pointed out, “You who pass judgment on others, do the same thing.” So, all are sinners. 

 

Dear reader, only the faults of others are very obvious to our eyes. We have an irresistible impulse to get them condemned and punished. What does today’s devotion remind us? All of us are going to give an account to the Lord. As the matter is as such let us not judge others. let us examine ourselves. The Lord Jesus Christ is the just and righteous judge. How can we take up His position of being a judge? Let us submit ourselves to the advice given to the churches in Rome by apostle Paul. Pray and find favor and mercy in His presence.
