Victory over sin

 

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” - Romans 6:23

 

John Broadfoot was a martyr for Christ. He used to sleep only for four hours a day. He ate a very little. The rest of the hours were spent by him on the Bible reading, devotion, preaching the gospel and doing good. He admonished and warned people firmly and gently regarding sins. He labored and strived to see that the people stayed in perpetual fellowship with God. His personal spiritual life was deeply rooted. He wrote down the sins and mistakes he committed every day in a piece of paper and in his personal prayer he confessed and asked for forgiveness beating his chest. By doing so, he renewed his joy of salvation in Christ.

 

He understood three important truth in his life. “The wages of sin is death and it is deadly. Sin splits-up the relationship between God and man and life without God is meaningless.” Apostle Paul also speaks various facts about sin and its power. He says about the work of sin, “Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me.” 

 

Beloved ones, we have been striving to resist sin every day. If we want to overcome sin without being a slave to it, just like John Broadfoot we have to read the word of God, meditate, pray, preach the gospel and do good. Surely God will bless us. Amen.
