Daily Devotion (English) – 26.06.2021

 

“And do you seek great things for yourself?” – Jeremiah 45:5

 

Sometimes there may be a temptation even to believers to own a title as a reputed person and to win name and fame in the society and church. If we yield to it, we will be entrapped by Satan easily.

 

Take the life of Jesus Christ we find that he led a simple life helping father with the carpentry work. He never preached in great cities like Rome, Athens and Alexandria but in ordinary places like Nazareth and Galilee. After performing a miracle, he sternly warned see that no one knows it. He had performed uncountable wonders and miracles but he was not boastful. But we try to boast of our good deeds and talents. We seek honor and recognition. We never like to be unknown Christians. 

 

Derby, the man of God used to say, “In God’s ministry, man must be hidden and only God must be glorified. There is no room for recognition in the Lord’s ministry.” In the end the following line was inscribed on his tombstone, “Liked to be unknown, but very well-known”. 

 

Dears, John the Baptist shunned brag. His goal was “He must increase, I must decrease” How is our mind? When Godly man has a fall, it brings reproaches to the Lord. Until His calling, let us be humble without bragging about our greatness. We should be loved by God and pleased to God. Pray to be a humble and unknown person to others but dear to God.
