God’s Garden on Earth

 

“...but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD” - Joshua 24:15

 

The family is the first institution established by God in this world. Declaring that it is not good for man to be alone, God created the family relationship. A family should be a place filled with love and a foundation of trust; it is the first school where one learns about God.

 

1. A Family Built on Biblical Principles

“Unless the Lord builds the house, the labour of the builders is in vain” (Psalm 127:1). The family is a holy covenant established by God. Husband and wife must be united in love; parents must raise their children in the fear of God. A family that centre’s its life on God will remain steadfast even amidst trials.

 

2. The Family as a Small Church

Joshua said, “...As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Every home is a small church. Prayer, Bible reading, spiritual conversation, and discipline should be present. A family is a place where hearts united in love dwell together. “Forgive one another”, a family without forgiveness cannot endure.

 

3. Challenges Families Face Today

Work pressure, a lack of time, and addiction to mobile phones and computers, along with the generation gap can erode families from within, much like termites that destroy unseen from the inside. Because of these factors, emotional distance grows even among those living under the same roof. Love and time spent together as a family are what bridge this gap.

 

4. Responsibility Toward Future Generations

Families shape the next generation. Whether we sow good or evil, it is they who will reap the harvest. A family centered on God will continue to progress. A family is a place where we live in love. Let the resolve to "serve the Lord" as a family resound in every home.
