Healing Love

“…and with his stripes we are healed” - Isaiah 53:5

By the great grace of the Lord, in 1986, I was appointed as a missionary teacher at a school operated by the organization ‘GEMS’ in Bihar. There was no electricity connection there. Furthermore, I did not like the people of Bihar. Within just one year, I submitted my letter of resignation. However, the founder of the organization, Brother Augustine, did not accept my letter. Suddenly, one morning when I woke up, I found that both of my knees were covered in sores. The Holy Spirit brought to my mind the scripture, “By Jesus’ stripes you are healed,” and prompted me to pray. When I rose the next morning and looked at my knees, I found that the sores had completely healed, leaving behind only the scars. What a magnificent miracle the Lord performed in my life! That miracle completely transformed my intention to resign. I fully surrendered myself to God, who had granted me healing from my illness, with the resolve to do even more for Him. To this very day, the Lord continues to grant me health and preserve my life. In the New Testament, in the city of Joppa, there lived a female disciple named Tabitha a name which translates to “Dorcas.” She was known for constantly doing good works and helping the poor. When she fell ill and passed away, they washed her body and laid her in the upper room. Peter arrived, sent everyone out of the room, knelt down and prayed; then, commanding her to rise, he called in the believers and the widows and presented her to them alive. This was because the people were in need of Dorcas’s good deeds. News of this miracle spread throughout the entire city of Joppa. At that time, many came to believe in the Lord.

Dear people of God reading this, a wound on my leg vanished completely overnight. In later days, I came to realize that God granted me healing solely so that I could continue my work and, through it, lead thousands of children to Him. Similarly, God raised Dorcas from the dead because her good deeds were needed by many. Let us, who are reading this, reflect upon this: Why has the Lord kept us alive to this very day? It may be so that the salvation of a specific individual is brought to fulfillment through us. It may also be so that we might serve as a blessing to a multitude of people. If we obey His Word, we too shall be blessed; and we shall become a blessing to others as well.
