Let Us Be Witnesses for the Lord
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” - Philippians 4:13
Once, when Section 144 was imposed in South Korea, a highly restrictive environment prevailed regarding public gatherings. Some people approached the local authorities and pleaded, “Sir, please grant us permission just for us to go to our church and worship God.” The official thought for a moment and replied, “Very well, you may worship; however, there is one condition: you must conduct your worship in silence.” Hearing this, the people were filled with great joy. Subsequently, gathering in small groups, they began to worship the Almighty God by clapping their hands When others heard the sound, they surrounded the church and set it on fire. But do you know what happened? Without fear, the believers worshipped God even louder. After some time, all of them died as witnesses for the Lord. Even today, South Korea is known as a country with many Christians.
In the Scriptures, amidst conditions forbidding the worship of God, three men Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace. However, because they placed their hope and faith in God, four figures were seen walking freely within the fire. The appearance of the fourth figure was like that of the Son of God. The fire had no power over their bodies; their hair was not burnt, their garments were not damaged, and not even the smell of fire clung to them. At that moment, King Nebuchadnezzar bore witness, declaring that God had sent His angel and delivered His servants. God protected them so that the fire would not touch them. The fire consumed the very person who had ordered them to be thrown into the fiery furnace. Yet, those who were cast into the fire remained unharmed.
Having read all of this, why is it that we cannot proclaim Jesus to others? Recently, after the Indian cricket team secured a victory, Indian cricketer Sanju Samson publicly expressed his gratitude to Jesus right there on the field, before an audience of thousands. Through this act, he bore witness to the people watching online at that moment, demonstrating that "Jesus has the power to grant victory to a person." But when are we going to proclaim the love of Jesus to others? Let us get ready to do so right now.
