The Unrecognized List

 

“Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus” - Acts 4:13

 

Wilbur Wright and Orville Wright were two brothers who worked as bicycle mechanics. Neither of them had gone to college. Yet, they had a dream and bold determination to fly. On December 17, 1903, they invented a flying machine called the "Wright Flyer" and successfully flew it four times, taking turns at the controls. The longest duration of these flights was a mere one minute! The Wright brothers' own relatives did not appreciate their achievement. Even the newspaper in their hometown did not believe the story; while conceding that it might be true, they claimed that the flight could only have covered a very short distance. It was only after they had performed numerous such flights and established a track record of success that they finally received recognition. Until then, they remained among the ranks of the unrecognized. Yes, these were indeed the Wright brothers the inventors of the airplane and their invention marked the beginning of air travel.

 

In the Scriptures, Peter and John held no official license to preach. Nor had they been formally authorized to preach by the religious leaders of their time. Furthermore, neither of them had ever attended a Bible college. They were simply fishermen. Yet, filled with the Holy Spirit, they boldly proclaimed the Good News. They preached with great courage, declaring that salvation is found in no one other than God, and that there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. The religious leaders ordered Peter and John to cease speaking to others about Jesus. But the apostles replied, "We cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard." Heaven acknowledged their preaching.

 

Dear Beloved! You, too, may not be on the list of those who are recognized. Society may not accept or acknowledge you. However, when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, you will be empowered to proclaim the message of Jesus Christ to the entire world. Just like Peter and John even if you find yourself on the list of the unrecognized you can still serve God effectively. God will not only acknowledge you but will also build His Kingdom through you. Therefore, do not lose heart. Let us realize that God's approval is what truly matters most. Hallelujah!
