The Blessing of Dedication

 

"Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth" - Colossians 3:2

 

Rev. Wesley Duewel states the following: Your life story is being recorded in heaven every single day. God is meticulous in recording everything your prayers, your efforts, your intentions, the things you paid attention to, and even your moments of carelessness. Your life story holds such immense significance because the Lord has a plan to reward your deeds for all eternity. The Lord is very strict regarding this matter: these eternal rewards and prizes will be determined entirely by the events of your life as they are recorded day by day. He asks: "What have you done for the Kingdom of God? How have you utilized the resources entrusted to you for the Lord's sake to bring benefit to others?"

 

Dear Friends, how much of the blessings God has given us do we set aside specifically for Him? If we use our talents, wealth, and time wisely and with purpose, our lives will become meaningful and fruitful. A devout believer named Ravenshill observes that entertainment is often just another name the devil uses for pleasure. So we should be careful not to spend our time only in useless entertainment that does not benefit God’s purpose. Solomon utilized the talent of wisdom a gift from God to compose the books of Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and the Song of Solomon. Dorcas utilized her sewing skills to serve and benefit poor widows. The devout Alexander Whyte asserts that, among all the talents God bestows upon humanity, the most excellent and sublime talent of all is the gift of prayer.

 

Proverbs 3:9 instructs us: "Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops." King David honoured the Lord with gold and silver, while the women of his time honoured Him by dedicating their personal possessions. Lydia honoured Him by opening her home to provide lodging for ministers and to serve as a venue for prayer meetings. Let us, too, dedicate our possessions, our homes, and our two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles to the service of the Lord's work. We can put them to use. We can raise our children to be of service to the Lord. Let us surrender everything acknowledging that it all belongs to Him into the hands of our Wonderful Lord! Let us receive His blessings!
