What is Your Contribution to God?

"…thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things…" - Matthew 25:23

A master, before going on a long journey, entrusted his servants with talents according to their abilities. He gave five talents to one servant, two talents to another, and one talent to another, and then he departed. When he returned, the one who had received five talents brought back five additional talents that he had earned. Similarly, the one who had received two talents had earned two additional talents. However, the one who had received only one talent was lazy; he went and buried it in the ground. Consequently, the master punished him and ordered that he be cast into the outer darkness, where there would be weeping and gnashing of teeth. What a severe punishment he received!

In the same way, the Lord has bestowed upon each of us various talents, abilities, and opportunities, and calls us to serve God. What are we currently doing for Him? Are we dedicating our time to God to proclaim the Gospel? Or are we distributing tracts and literature in a way that leads to the winning of souls? Or are we extending our hands to provide necessary assistance to those who are suffering or in need? Let us examine ourselves. In the Scriptures, we find examples of individuals who dedicated both their lives and their material possessions to Jesus.

As Jesus was carrying His cross, Simon of Cyrene was compelled to carry His cross for Him. Utilizing his time and effort for Jesus constituted his contribution. Next, when Jesus needed to make a processional entry into Jerusalem, a donkey was required. A certain household offered their contribution by providing the donkey. Similarly, what Jesus requires may well be a "donkey", someone just like us. Let us dedicate ourselves completely to Him. Just as that donkey bore Jesus, let us dedicate ourselves to becoming "donkeys" who bear Jesus.

After Jesus died on the cross, Joseph of Arimathea gave his own new tomb, which he had prepared for himself, for Jesus’ burial. This act is remembered even today. Likewise, let us too offer our contributions to God and thereby glorify Him! Amen.
