False Prestige 

 

“let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes’ and your ‘No’ No’...” – Matthew 5:37 

 

Brother Yesanna who did powerful ministry in Andhra shared an anecdote from his life. He says,

“I am fond of bananas. I used to feel that it would be gratifying if I had a banana after dinner every night. Once I went to a certain city to preach. When the meeting was over, they gave me dinner. One family who had heard about my liking for bananas, brought some bananas for me. When the banana was offered to me, with much hesitation I said, “No, thanks. Doesn’t matter” because of my self-esteem. My mouth rejected it but, in my mind, I longed to have it. Thinking that I have got aversion to bananas, they did not want to compel me to eat it and they went away with the bananas. I lost the chance of tasting my favourite bananas. My false prestige prevented me from accepting the bananas offered to me.” The next day his sermon was on not how pride and prestige deprives us of our blessings.

 

We read in 2 Kings, 5th chapter about Naaman. Naaman hoping to get healed, went with his horses and chariots and stood at the door of Elisha’s house. Elisha sent a messenger to him saying, “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times.” But he became so furious that he turned away. When his servants came near and spoke to him, he changed his mind and let his pride go off and went down and dipped seven times in Jordan and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child and he was clean. 

 

Dear brothers and sisters, on many occasions we complete three fourth of the proceeding and leave the rest undone due to our prestige. Sometimes we get closer at the entrance and just a step forward is enough to receive God’s blessings. But we are reluctant because we have not got rid off our pride and self-esteem. Let us shed our prestige and pride and be blessed and be a blessing to others.

Pray for the conduct of “Healing Service” for the people who are enslaved by devil and afflicted with diseases and for their miraculous deliverance.
