Moses' Rod
"And the LORD said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod" - Ex.4:2
When God heard the cry of the people of Israel and saw their suffering because of the oppressors, God chose a saviour named Moses to deliver them. Then Moses asked the Lord, "How will the people believe that you have sent me?" Then the Lord asked Moses, "What is that in your hand?" Moses said, "A rod." He said, "Throw it on the ground." When he threw it on the ground, it became a serpent. Then the Lord said to Moses, "Reach out your hand and take it by the tail." When he took it, it became a rod in his hand. This is the sign that the Lord, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you, so that they may believe. With the rod that was in his hand, God performed many miracles before Pharaoh, before the people of Egypt, and before the eyes of the people of Israel. Yes, God worked with what was in Moses' hand.
Similarly, the Bible says that when young David faced Goliath face to face, he did not have a sword in his hand. But David had his own sling and a stone in his hand. God used it to defeat the giant Goliath. Look! It is enough to give God our contribution with what we have in our hands. We do not need to worry about something that is not there or something that we have not received, thinking that this is not for me, and if I had it, I would be able to do great things for God. Like the rod in the hand of Moses, like the sling in the hand of David, the Lord has given each of us something and wants us to use it for the glory of His name. No one can say that I have nothing. There is no one in this world who has not been given a talent.
So let us use what we have and contribute to God’s work, so that the kingdom of God can be built and the world can be evangelized. God will be glorified.
