"Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me" - Isaiah 6:8

 

In the late 1890s, when Swedish missionary Erik Lund felt called by God to go to Spain for ministry, he immediately obeyed. Although he had limited success there, he continued his missionary work with firm faith in God's call. One day, he met a Filipino man named Braulia Manikkan and shared the gospel with him. Later, Erik Lund and Manikkan worked together to translate the Bible into the Filipino language. Needless to say, Erik made great achievements in his ministry. But Eric, who obeyed the Lord’s command, translated the Bible for the Filipino people in their native language and gave his best contribution.

 

Isaiah, who said, “I am a man of unclean lips,” dedicated himself to the ministry as he knew the Lord’s expectations. Even today, Isaiah is remembered as one of the major prophets because of his willingness to respond to God’s call.

 

In the passage of Scripture we read today, we read the voice of our God asking, “Whom shall I send? Who will go for us?” Our Lord expects everyone to give their contribution to Him. But the Lord does not force anyone to do His work. But when we dedicate ourselves to Him like Isaiah, saying, “Here I am, send me,” He will do great things.

 

If I love Jesus with all my heart, we can give our contribution by serving full-time or part-time. Or we can support God’s work through our offerings and resources according to our ability.
