The Contribution of Servants

 

"In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found;..." - Proverbs 10:13

 

A great army commander who had won many battles was suffering from leprosy. The healing of his body and the change in his heart happened mainly because of the contribution of his servants. That commander was Naaman. The reason for Naaman’s physical healing and inner transformation began with the words of a young servant girl who had been taken captive. Even in the middle of her own suffering and pain, she thought of doing good to her master.

 

Not only that, when he came close to the blessing, Naaman lost it out of anger. Then the servant who came with him said, " If the prophet had told you to do some great thing, would you not have done it? This is a simple thing. Why not do it?" These wise words changed Naaman’s mind. The little girl introduced him to the prophet. Another servant helped him not to miss God’s blessing. Both speak wisely. Naaman, the captain of the army, finds healing in his body and salvation in his soul. Yes, he says, I know that there is no God in all the earth except the God of Israel. The contribution of the two servants led the Syrian nation to know the God of Israel. Their names are not even written in the Bible. Yet they contributed. God has blessed you so much. You can give your contribution to the Lord as a way of showing gratitude for that. Even if the contribution you give is small, God will make you see great rewards.

 

Dear friends, the little girl loved a master who brought her as a slave and made her serve him without considering him a child. If she could do that, how much more should we give our contribution to Jesus Christ who cared for us, protects us, speaks kindly to us, and gave Himself for sinners like us to prepare an eternal place for us?
