Hello kids! Today we are going to hear a true story from the Bible. Listen carefully. Okay? There was no water anywhere, the fields in the villages were dry. There was no work, and there was no rain. The famine was severe. The people were suffering a lot because they had no food to eat. In this situation, the prophet Elijah, as commanded by the Lord, went to a town called Zarephath. A widow was gathering wood on the outskirts of that town. Grandpa Elijah asked, "Can I have a little water to drink?" When the mother said yes and went to get some water he also said, "Give me some bread, I am hungry." Immediately, the widow said, " I only have a handful of flour and a little oil at home. I was just going to prepare one last meal for my son and me. After that, we have nothing left." Grandpa Elijah said to her, “First make a small bread for me and bring it. The Lord says that until rain comes again, the flour and oil in your house will not run out."

 

Children, think about how difficult that must have been for the mother! She did not even have enough food for the next meal. Yet she trusted God and first made bread for Elijah. Do you know what miracle happened? When she went back home and took flour to cook again, it had not reduced. The oil also did not run out. Until the rain came and the famine ended, the flour and oil in the widow’s house never became empty just as Elijah had said!

 

My dear children, it is amazing to hear, how happy those who witnessed that miracle must have been. Was that all? Many people must have come to see that miracle and glorify the name of the Lord.

 

Dear brother and sister, even though they had no way to eat the next meal, they gave her food to satisfy his hunger. What a great heart. The Lord did not forget that contribution and performed an unforgettable miracle for the widow of Zarephath.

 

Dear children what are you going to give to Jesus? Think and act. May the grace of the Lord be with you. Amen.
