Let Sins Be Washed Away

 

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." - 1 John 1:9

 

In Italy, in the city of Florence, a servant of God named Savonarola was used to bring a great revival of salvation. In his days, when people would preach about sin and salvation, they would get up and leave. The churches would also be deserted. Seeing this, Savonarola would fast and kneel for hours for the churches and for the unsaved people. He made it his habit to pray and weep for God's guidance. The Spirit began to reveal many things to him prophetically. As a result of his prayers, the churches became so full that there was no place to sit.

 

Thus, the city was shaken by the message of salvation. His preaching and the scriptures about sin worked in the hearts of the people. The powerful words of God changed their lives. The people of this city confessed their sins, cleansed themselves with the blood of Jesus Christ, received the joy of salvation, and dedicated themselves to living a holy life.

 

Dear child of God! Have your sins been washed by the blood of Jesus Christ? Or are you troubled, thinking, “Even though I was cleansed from sin, I have fallen into sin again. Will Jesus forgive me?”

 

Even David, who had fallen into sin, confessed his sin and repented (Psalm 51). Psalm 32:5 says, “I acknowledged my sin to you and did not hide it; I said, ‘I will confess my transgressions to the Lord;’ and you forgave the iniquity of my sin.”

 

Dear child of God, if you do not give room to a guilty conscience and confess your sins to God, God will give you the strength to forsake them. Read the Bible and meditate daily, both alone and with friends. Seek the fellowship of God’s children. Share the joy of your salvation with others as a witness. May God grant you grace to remain in the salvation you have received.
