Acceptance

 

“…many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples” - Matt. 9:10

 

Jim Wacker, a famous evangelist in the 1980s, hosted Christian TV shows. He was once imprisoned for money laundering and misconduct. The Christian community was furious with him. But when Jim Wacker was released, Billy Graham and his wife invited him to their home for dinner. While talking at the dinner table, when Jim took out a paper envelope to give someone's address, Billy Graham's wife asked, "Don't you have a wallet?" Jim replied, someone took my wallet while I was in prison. For four years, I have kept important things in a paper envelope. Billy Graham's wife immediately brought him a new purse. From that day on, Jim Wacker used Billy Graham's purse. Without asking about any old problems, they spoke to him with love, prayed for him, and sent him on his way.

 

Yes, in the same way, Jesus Christ accepted everyone when he lived on earth, regardless of whether they were sinners or tax collectors, and treated them with love. He went to the house of Zacchaeus, the tax collector, and commanded salvation. Once, the scribes and Pharisees brought to him a woman caught in adultery and were ready to stone her, saying, "Moses commanded us in the law to stone such women." Then Jesus Christ said, "Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her." Immediately, everyone, from the greatest to the least, went away one by one.

 

We, who see others as sinners and criminals, are also in some sin. That is what Paul says in Romans 3:10, “There is none righteous, no, not one.” Jesus Christ also says that there is none good except the Father. So why do we hesitate to get along with others and accept them?

 

Dear brothers and sisters, “God demonstrates his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). In the same way, let us show our love by accepting everyone. Let us not continue boldly in sin, saying everyone is a sinner, but instead receive redemption through the grace of the Lord. Today is the day of salvation!
