Firm in Our Decision

 

"But it is good to be zealously affected always in a good thing..." - Galatians 4:18

 

Aravind worked in an office. He maintained honesty in coming to work and fulfilling his responsibilities. Even though some around him chose easy shortcuts and tried to persuade him to do wrong, Aravind did not want to do anything against God, out of respect for his conscience and fear of God. Although Aravind's honesty sometimes isolated him, he remained true to his principles. Days passed, and his resolution and good conduct led to his promotion and earned him respect.

 

In the Bible, Daniel was taken captive to Babylon. There, he made a resolution not to eat the king's food. This was because God had given a list of permissible and forbidden foods in Leviticus chapter 11. He might have thought that the king's food might contain things forbidden by God and therefore made this resolution. But he remained firm in his decision. After a 10-day test, his face was brighter and his body healthier than everyone else's. A few months later, when the king tested them in all matters, they were found to be ten times wiser than the others. The resolution Daniel made was very risky. Because it is very difficult to be steadfast in one's resolution among superiors and new people in a place where one is taken captive as a slave. Yet, Daniel made a firm decision and asked for permission from the chief official, and God granted him favour.

 

Even though Daniel was taken captive to a foreign land, when he remained steadfast in his resolution, God granted him favour in the eyes of the officials. He gave him good friends named Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. He made them ten times more capable than everyone else. He gave them responsibility in the land. Likewise, you too try to remain firm in your decisions. Then God will help you and bestow immeasurable blessings. Be firm in your decisions and receive countless blessings.
