Do Not Despise Anyone

 

"Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones..." - Matthew 18:10

 

Twelve-year-old Swathi went to a convention meeting. She was a believer. The preacher was speaking wonderfully about salvation that day. Jikki, a young woman sitting in the front row, irritated Swathi. Swathi couldn't stand her lipstick and makeup. The sound of her glass bangles greatly distracted Swathi from paying attention to the message. Swathi was cursing her in her mind, thinking, " She is older than twelve. How can she come to a meeting dressed up like this?"

 

The sermon reached its climax. The preacher asked, “Whoever wants to accept the Lord, please come forward. Swathi was utterly surprised, she couldn't believe it, she was astonished. The very same Jikki, whom she had cursed, was the first to get up and go forward, kneeling before the preacher. The man of God prayed, and after the prayer, Jikki returned to her seat wiping her eyes. Swathi felt guilty for despising that girl. She decided not to judge anyone based on their outward appearance anymore and began to pray for everyone.

 

Dear children of God! We may be living a good, devout life. We may be living pleasing to God in many things. Good! We must continue to do that! At the same time, we should not despise those who are lacking in matters pertaining to God. In Luke chapter 18, one is a devout person, and the other is a sinner. But because the devout man considered the sinner contemptible, he lost the blessing he was supposed to receive. The very one who was considered contemptible was accepted by God. Jesus is able to transform the heart of any sinner.

 

We too have sinned and received forgiveness through God's mercy. We should not consider anyone contemptible and despise them. We should pray for them more. Jesus will save them and bless us as well. May all our actions this year be pleasing to Jesus. May the Lord Himself bless us! Amen. Hallelujah!
