The Story of the Coconuts
“…for God loveth a cheerful giver" - 2 Corinthians 9:7
Dear children! How are you? Shall we listen to a story today?
There was a family, and they owned a coconut farm. There were two brothers, Raju and Raghu. They were united and affectionate towards each other. When they were about ten or twelve years old, their father passed away. They grew up, and both of them responsibly took care of their father's coconut farm. That year, they harvested a thousand coconuts. They divided them, saying, "500 coconuts for you to sell, and 500 coconuts for me to sell." The elder brother said, "I will take care of the farm during the day, and you take care of it at night." The farm lacked proper security. One day, the elder brother thought, "My younger brother is taking care of the farm all night; he is working hard. He won't accept anything if I give it to him directly." So, he took 50 coconuts from his share and added them to his brother's share. That night, the younger brother came there, and he thought, "My elder brother has been taking good care of us since our father passed away. I should do something for him, but he won't accept anything if I give it to him directly." So, he took 50 coconuts from his share and added them to his elder brother's share.
The next day, a truck arrived to load all the coconuts. They counted the elder brother's share first. How many do you think there were? Yes, exactly 500 coconuts! The elder brother was very surprised! "I added 50 coconuts to my brother's share, so there should only be 450 in my share." But he thought to himself, "If we give to others, we don’t lose anything"
The scripture says it is better to give than to receive! The verse "Ask, and it will be given to you" is known to the whole world. But according to the verse, "Give, and it will be given to you," when we give to others, the Lord will never forget us. When we give to people, God will give back to us. And He will give abundantly. So, this year, let us give to the Lord. Blessings will come into our lives, alright children? I am praying for you. Amen.
