A Good Example

 

"...leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps" - 1 Peter 2:21

 

A professor at a university asked his students an interesting question. Four birds are sitting on a tree branch. Three of them decide to fly away from the tree. Now, how many birds will be left on the tree? he asked. Almost all the students immediately answered that only one bird would remain. But one student stood up and said, "No sir, all four birds will still be on the tree." Everyone in the class looked at him in surprise. The professor asked, "How is that possible? Explain." The student replied, "Sir, those three birds only decided to fly away. But they didn't actually fly away."

 

During His time on earth, the Lord Jesus performed many miracles. He healed many who were afflicted with various diseases. He rose early in the morning, while it was still dark, and went to a solitary place and prayed there. If we observe the Lord Jesus, we see that after performing many signs and wonders the previous day, He rises early the next morning to pray. He Himself has set an example for us to rise early in the morning and seek the Lord. Jesus demonstrated what He preached through His actions.

 

Dear ones who are reading this, many of us who have entered the new year make countless resolutions to achieve great goals in life and to adopt good habits. Making such resolutions is very easy. We proudly talk about our plans to our friends and relatives. But how many of us take the first step to implement those decisions? The difference between decision and action is that deciding to do something is only the beginning of the journey. Many may talk about it, but only a few actually take action. And among those few is our Jesus. He who said, "Those who seek me early in the morning will find me," demonstrated it through his actions and has set a good example for us. Let us follow Jesus. Let us live as good role models for others.
