There is a Reward

 

“Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded” - 2 Chronicles 15:7

 

Many who serve faithfully in this world feel that they have been deceived and that their efforts have gone unrewarded. After many years of service and retirement, they feel that their lives have been wasted. There are people who, even after long years of work, retire without having a house to live in. They agonize over what reward they have received for their faithful service. Joseph Gratz worked as an elevator operator in an apartment building. Three cheques worth $14,000 went missing there. After many hours of searching, he found the three cheques and returned them to their rightful owners. The reward he received for this good deed was only 15 US dollars. Many in this world feel that their hard work and honesty go unrewarded.

 

Even believers think, “It is futile to serve God. What do we gain by keeping his requirements and by walking mournfully before the Lord Almighty?” (Malachi 3:14). This is because in this world, it seems that the wicked prosper and flourish, while God's children suffer.

 

Dear children of God! Your faithfulness, patience, hard work, and the service you render may go unappreciated and unrewarded in this world. But they are not forgotten in heaven. “If what someone has built survives, he will receive his reward,” says the Scripture (1 Corinthians 3:14). Therefore, take courage. There is a reward for your works. We will receive our reward from God. “Let the one who is righteous continue to do righteousness; and let the one who is holy continue to be holy.” “Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what they have done,” says God (Revelation 22:11,12). So let us patiently wait for the glorious, eternal, and unfading crown that we will receive when the Chief Shepherd appears.
