Today is the Day of Salvation

 

“Redeeming the time, because the days are evil” - Ephesians 5:16

 

Procrastination is a common habit found in all of us. Students delay finishing their studies and completing their homework. We often even delay reading and meditating on the Bible. Parents delay in uniting their children with Jesus through baptism at the appropriate time. We delay in telling them about Jesus Christ and leading them to Him.

 

Procrastination can cause great harm. Because time that has passed never returns. An opportunity once lost is never regained. This is especially crucial in the matter of salvation. When the Holy Spirit places the truth in our hearts and urges us to accept it, it is a grave mistake to think, "Not now, I'll consider it another time." This is a trick of the devil. Many have lost their heavenly life because of this.

 

Once, during a 40-day evangelistic meeting in southern Tamil Nadu, an elderly man heard the truth and intellectually accepted that he should obey God's word, be baptized, and join in fellowship with the church.

 

But he did not give room for true salvation. When he was told about the Lord and invited to be baptized, he did not agree immediately but asked for 15 days' time. Despite much persuasion, he did not listen, so the minister prayed earnestly for him and left. But on the second day, he died of a heart attack. Alas, what a tragedy! Those 15 days never came to pass in his life. When the Holy Spirit points out our sin, it is absolutely essential to seek forgiveness without delay. See that you walk carefully, not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.
