Let us support the weak!

 

“We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak…” - Romans 15:1

 

It was a large stadium filled with many spectators. A running race was being held for physically challenged children. When the whistle blew, all the children began to run. Within a few seconds, one boy unexpectedly fell down. As soon as the other boys saw this, they stopped running, came back, lifted the fallen boy by holding his hands, and then all of them ran together. What a wonderful team spirit! The spectators immediately applauded and encouraged the children.

 

In today’s Bible passage, David goes to battle with his men. Along the way, some became tired and exhausted and stopped halfway. Others were too weak and did not go to battle. David went with the remaining men and won the victory. After returning with the spoils, some people said that those who did not go to battle should not be given any share. But David checked on the well-being of those who stayed back and ordered that the spoils be shared equally with them. He even made this a rule and a law.

 

Dear Friends! In the family, church, or group ministry teams that we are a part of, do we encourage those who are weaker than us in some way? We must reflect on whether we include them, pat them on the shoulder, and run together with them. In a group, not everyone is the same. God has given each person different talents. Some may have certain shortcomings or hesitations in doing things like singing on stage, worshipping, praying, preaching, or writing in magazines. But we should not leave them as they are. Let us give them opportunities again and again, encourage them, and move forward! Let us fulfill God's will!
