Sin

 

“But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil” - Matthew 5:37

 

Here is an incident shared by the world-renowned evangelist Dr. Billy Graham. A pastor, during his church service, spoke very strongly condemning sin. A member of the congregation, upon hearing this, approached the pastor and said, “Sir, there is no need for you to speak so harshly about sin; because if the young people in our church learn about sin, they will easily become sinners. Therefore, instead of calling sin ‘sin,’ call it a ‘weakness.’”

 

To this, the pastor took a bottle containing poison, showed it to the man, and asked, “Should I remove the label that says ‘poison’ and replace it with ‘honey’? The more I conceal the true nature of the poison by labelling it as honey or a sweet medicine, the more dangerous it becomes.”

 

Dear friends! In these last days, people in churches and in the nation are afraid to call sin by its name. They make excuses, calling it a ‘mistake’ or a ‘weakness.’ Not only that, there are also those who boldly commit sin, saying, “I am only doing what everyone else is doing; what's wrong with that?” There are even nations that are legalizing sin.

 

Dear children of God! The Holy Spirit will convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:8). Therefore, we too must condemn sin. The power of sin is terrible; the Bible warns us that ‘the wages of sin is death.’ We have been called to live a holy life and have been set apart by God. Therefore, let us not remain indifferent to sin, but let us openly condemn and expose sin for what it is! Let us preach the gospel to those headed for hell and show them the way to heaven!
