Perfect Peace
“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace…" - Isaiah 26:3
Three friends decided that they would be the first to see the sunrise on January 1st, 1976. They chose a 7000-foot-high mountain in Oregon, USA, and successfully completed their mountain climbing training. They reached the summit on the night of December 31st. They watched and enjoyed the sunrise before other Americans could see it. While descending the mountain with great joy, they were stranded due to heavy snowfall. The three were in three different states of mind. Among them, a young man named Gary Winter was a believer in Jesus. Even after 16 days, Gary Winter remained joyful and full of faith. His faith did not go in vain. A rescue team rescued them safely by helicopter. The testimony of the two friends who were with him was, "Gary Winter's faith in Jesus saved us too. We can never lose our faith in Jesus under any circumstances." We can see from Gary Winter's life that our lives can change the lives of others.
In Philippians 4:6,7, it says, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." The Apostle Paul says that the "peace of God" guards our hearts and minds. Even while in prison, Paul was guarded by the "peace of God" in his heart and mind.
Dearly beloved! In this new year, no matter what our circumstances may be, if we are with the Lord, God's peace can completely fill us. For worldly people, peace comes when their problems change. But in the lives of God's children, even before the problems change, that is, immediately after praying, the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, can fill their hearts. If we have minds that are firmly fixed on the Lord, He will keep us in perfect peace.
