Letting go of the old, embracing the new

 

“…I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee” - Hebrews 13:5

 

As a new year begins, we eagerly anticipate what God has in store for us in the coming year. At the same time, the worries, sorrows, failures, sins, and transgressions of the past year come to mind, making us feel discouraged. Moreover, fears about the future trouble us. But our God has promised that He will never leave us nor forsake us. God's grace and care have brought us through all the ups and downs, rough paths, sorrows, and burdens of the past year that we could not bear on our own. Therefore, neither the burdens of the past year nor the fears of the coming year should overcome us.

 

May God grant us the grace to work together with Him, to wait upon Him, to progress in our spiritual lives, to praise Him, and to experience His presence with us every day of the new year. May each day be a day to experience God's mercy, faithfulness, grace, and the joy of His presence. Let every day be a day when we bring our needs, burdens, and weaknesses before the Lord, a day to understand the heartbeat of His heart; a day to lean upon His loving bosom. May it be a day to trust in the peace, comfort, and rest He provides, and a day to serve Him. Yes, may each day be a day to bear witness to His love! A day to train us for heavenly life! A day given to us so that whether we are in this world or have entered the next, we may belong to the Lord.

 

Dear beloved, let us begin each day of the New Year with prayer, so that we may receive the blessings mentioned above! Let us taste and see that the Lord is good and that His mercy endures forever.
