Rita and Grandpa

 

“He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.” - Prov. 19:17

 

Hello kids!

You all enjoy travelling by bus, train and car, right? As soon as your holidays start, you love going on a trip or visiting relatives, don’t you?

 

Just like you, Rita also went happily with her mother to visit her grandpa and grandma who lived in a village. She enjoyed looking at the beautiful scenery through the train window. Since it was December, she wore a sweater to keep herself warm. The next morning, they reached her grandparents’ town and got down at the railway station. Rita held her mother’s hand tightly as they walked. On the platform, an old man was shivering in the cold and begging. A few people gave him money., while others ignored him and walked away. Rita's attention turned to the old man. She told her mother, "Mom, let's help that poor grandfather." Her mother also gave her some money. Rita took it and happily went to him, saying, "Grandpa, here please take this," and gave it to him. After walking a short distance, they turned around and felt that someone was following them. The old man was walking towards them quickly. Immediately, Rita's mother angrily asked, "What do you want? Why are you following us?" The old man replied with tearful eyes, "Madam, no one has ever called me Grandpa. They have only called me a beggar. But I am happy that your daughter affectionately called me Grandpa. I have no one. Will you call me Grandpa again?" he cried. Immediately, Rita said, "Grandpa don't cry, you have Jesus." They bought her a nice dress, told her about the love of Jesus, and took her to her grandparents' house.

 

Dear Kids, when you see lonely, poor, or mentally ill people on bus stands or roads, never think of them as useless. God wants you to love them and help them in whatever way you can. That makes Jesus very happy
