The Fulfilment of Saving a Life

 

“…The LORD hath loved him: he will do his pleasure on Babylon…” - Isaiah 48:14

 

A man carrying a child on his shoulders and running is only thinking of saving the child somehow. He has already run for one and a half kilometers. He still has another one and half kilometer to run. The village has no transportation facilities. The villagers are not afraid to walk wherever they want to go. Some people who saw him running even said, “Give the child to me, I will carry him" but the man didn’t stop to answer. The man runs briskly without stopping and sweating. He runs tirelessly to the government health centre in the neighbouring village and sends the child for treatment. The doctor who examined the child gave the child intensive treatment. The boy, who woke up after an hour, looked at the person who saved him in awe. The doctor called the man and said, "Your son is alive. You brought him to the hospital at the right time." The man smiled and said, "Sir, he is not my child. I found him unconscious on the road, I picked him up and started walking immediately. I came here with a determination to save him somehow, sir." Is this possible? A man carrying a child who has no relation to him, running miles on rough roads to save his life! Isn’t this an extraordinary act of saving a life? In this task, he ran and walked with the boy on his shoulders, without resting anywhere, without stopping to talk to anyone for a second, without waiting for any vehicle, with the sole intention of ensuring his survival, he carried him for three km on the rough road without giving up at all. He saved the boy's life and succeeded in his mission. Not the city, not the family, not the race, not even his own people. One thought, one zeal, one speed of action, the unwavering journey of victory is the fulfilment of saving life!
