Searching for a Man ..

 

“That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world” - John 1:9

 

C.T. Studd was a famous cricket player who came from a very wealthy family. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior in the sermon of D.L. Moody. Studd wanted to be the topmost cricket player. When his brother was sick, Studd realized in his heart that "all the fame and name I have gained in this world are nothing when I face eternity." He wanted to win souls for Christ. He was the cause of revival among students in England, worked as a missionary in China and India. Later, he held meetings in England and America and dedicated thousands to the work of the Lord. Finally, he went to Africa and proclaimed the Savior Jesus, turning them into children of light.

 

In today's scripture passage, we are meditating on a man named Zacchaeus. It recalls a short man, a tax collector, and a sinner. But this one man's humble commitment and conversion brought salvation to his household. The commitment of the man named Abraham led the generation into abundance. Through the commitment of Moses, millions of people were rescued from slavery in Egypt. Noah, because he lived righteously, was preserved in the ark with his entire household. Cornelius' piety, prayer, and alms brought salvation to his entire household and set them free. Above all, through the obedience of the last Adam, Jesus Christ, many are made righteous. It is his will that all men should be saved.

 

Dear Beloved in Christ! We read in Ecclesiastes 7:8 that “the end of a thing is better than its beginning.” Are you and me a source of blessing? Or a stumbling block? Let us think about it. All it takes is one person’s heart to open up to bring blessings from generation to generation. God is always looking for such a person. Why can’t you be that one person God is looking for who is reading this. May the humble commitment of one of you be the reason for God’s power to be powerfully manifested in your family, community, and nation! Will you come forward to act as an instrument in His hand?
