You should act wisely

 

“Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit.” - Proverbs 26:5

 

A mischievous but harmless Cobra snake lived in a village called Swapnapuri. It was biting and tormenting the people. So, the villagers gathered and went to the sadhu in that village and said, "Advise the snake, it is giving us a lot of trouble." The sadhu went to the snake and said, "What you are doing is not right, you should not bite anyone again.” The snake obeyed.

 

A week passed, and the snake came to the sadhu with a sad face. Why are you like this? He asked the snake. These people are throwing stones at me. The children are pulling me by the tail. I am in a lot of trouble now. Sadhu told the snake, “I told you not to bite. But did I tell you not to hiss?" From that day on, the snake began to hiss anyone who came near it. Not even one approached the snake. Jesus says that we should be as innocent as doves and as wise as snakes.

 

In Prov. 26:4,5, the wise Solomon says, "Do not answer a fool according to his folly, for if you do, you will also be like him." "Answer a fool according to his folly, for he is wise in his own eyes." Here, both verses are written almost the same. This means: Don’t use foolish words like the fool. Instead, answer with wisdom so the person realizes their mistake.

 

We should not respond like people who don’t know God but answer them according to the guidance that God has given us. Then they will realize their mistake and correct themselves. As soon as the snake did not bite, everyone started to bother them. But as soon as it started to hiss, they left. Let us also act wisely in what we say and how we walk. Let us win souls. May the Lord bless us! Amen! Hallelujah!
