Do you love Me?

 

“…lovest thou me more than these?” - John 21:15

 

A fifteen-year-old boy was suffering from cancer. The boy received chemotherapy treatment and was in unbearable pain, because of this all the hair on his head had fallen out. He felt shy and scared to return to school with a bald head, not knowing how others would react to his illness. But on his first day back to school, a surprise awaited him. Many in his class had come shaved. The boys who loved him showed their love in a new way. Like those friends, we should also show our love to others.

 

In the Bible, we see a similar example in Peter’s life. One night, Peter and the other persons fished the whole night but caught nothing. Jesus said to them, "Cast the net on the right side of the boat." Because they obeyed Jesus' word, a great catch of fish was caught. From that day on, Peter left everything and followed Jesus. He was with Jesus and saw the miracles he performed. He goes to the mountain with him to pray. But when it came to the point of crucifying Jesus, Peter, who left everything for Jesus, denied Jesus. Peter, who denied, later repents. After Jesus rose from the dead, He appeared to the disciples again for the third time. After they finished eating, Jesus asked Simon the Peter, "Do you love me more than these?" Peter said to him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." Then Jesus said, “Feed My lambs.”

 

Dear children of God who are reading this! The Lord, who asked Peter, "Do you love me?", is asking each of us today. How many of us can answer this question? Let us ask ourselves this every day and strive to correct ourselves. Many times, we direct the love we should have for the Lord to earthly things or to other people. Have we perhaps abandoned the love we had for Jesus in the beginning? Let us examine ourselves and correct ourselves. If we love Jesus with all our heart and love Him, He is able to give us everything.
