Live Wisely Don’t Fall

 

"…and delighted themselves in thy great goodness." - Nehemiah 9:25

 

There lived a very rich man in a city. He raised his only son with love and affection. Since he was the richest man in that city, he had good respect and honour. When the son reached a certain age, he started making small mistakes with the wrong friends, and later he thought that there was no one to question him and wandered around carelessly. One day, at the instigation of his friends, he got drunk, fought with his father, took all his money and left home. His friends conspired against him and gave him alcohol to drink. In a short time, he fainted. His friends took all the money and ran away. When he woke up from his intoxication, his friends were gone, and his money was gone. He was devastated and cried, but there was no one to comfort him. So, he wandered around looking for work to survive, but he couldn’t find any. He was so exhausted that he was forced to beg.

 

In the Bible, in Luke 15:11-32, we see a similar person. He was the younger son. He asked his father to give him the share of the estate that would fall to him. After a few days, he gathered everything together and traveled to a distant country, where he squandered his wealth in sinful living. When he had spent everything, he went to work for a certain owner of that country. The owner gave him work to feed pigs. He wanted to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs ate. No one gave him anything. In the end, he went to his father, and his father welcomed him with love.

 

Brothers and sisters who are reading this, When things get better, don’t be proud. We must learn to live like the apostle Paul and be humble. We must not be like prodigal son. According to Nehemiah 9:25, they lived richly because of His great mercy. We too live richly because of His mercy! Let us not fall!
