God Helps the Helpless

 

“…but if thou canst do anything, have compassion on us, and help us” - Mark 9:22

 

A little boy came running into a hospital crying and saying that he needed to see a doctor. Hearing his cries, the doctor came out of his room and asked, "What can I do for you?" He said, "You need to save my father, who is in a very bad condition." The doctor said, "Bring your father." The boy said, "Sir, I can't bring him, he is bedridden." The doctor said to the boy, "Then only the Lord can save your father. Go to the nearby church and pray, and Jesus will heal your father."

 

The boy immediately went to the church and prayed with tears, saying, “Jesus, everyone has abandoned my father. Please heal my father.” Then he went home and found his father not on the bed. He was afraid and called out, “Father, where are you?” He said, “Son, I am making you some fruit juice in the kitchen.” He ran happily and hugged his father and asked, “Father, how did you get well?” He said, “A little while ago, a kind and peaceful man came and prayed for me. When he asked him who you were, he said, “I am Jesus Christ, your son said you are sick and he asked me to heal you.” Then the father and son knelt down and thanked the Lord with tears.

 

In Mark 9, a father brought his son, who was possessed by a mute spirit, to Jesus’ disciples to heal him. But they could not cast it out. The father asked Jesus Christ to heal his son. Jesus Christ said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” The father said, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief.” And the Lord healed the son.

 

Dear brothers and sisters, when we cry out to God with a broken heart, Jesus is willing to help us. Our God is a God of mercy and compassion. He is ready to help all who call upon Him with sincerity. Amen.
