Farmer
“The way of the slothful man is as an hedge of thorns: but the way of the righteous is made plain” - Prov. 15:19
A farmer had two sons. The farmer gave his two sons separate fields and seeds to sow. The two sons sowed according to their father's instructions. One son watered it regularly, fertilized it, and fenced it in. The other son sowed but never went to the field. Months passed, and the plants in the elder son's field had grown, bloomed, and borne fruit. The younger son's field was overgrown with weeds and unwanted plants.
One day the father went to see the fields of his two sons. He was very happy to see the elder son's field. The father was very angry when he saw the field of his younger son, which was full of thorns. He asked the younger son, "You lazy one, what have you done with the seed I gave you?" His son replied, "I sowed the seed you gave me, and then I did not take care of the field." The father became angry and said, "No land that is not cultivated or cared for will bear fruit."
In the Bible, in the verses from Matthew 25:15-18, Jesus tells a parable about a man who went on a journey and gave his servants his money to manage. To one was given five talents, to another two talents, and to another one talent. The one who received the five talents gained another five talents. The one who received the two talents gained another two talents. The one who received the one talent hid it in the ground. When the master returned, the one who had received the five talents and the one who had received the two talents brought their gains. But when he found out that the one who had received the one talent had hidden his gain, he took the one from him and gave it to the one who had the ten talents, saying, “Throw this useless servant into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
Dear friends in Christ, our Lord Jesus Christ has given us many talents and abilities. No one is without talent. Let us not hide them or be lazy but use those talents for the Lord. Then the heart of our Lord Jesus will be glad.
