Obedience Without Asking Questions
“…Abraham obeyed my voice…” - Gen. 26:5
Many years ago, a wealthy man advertised for a worker. Many young men applied and worked for two days, but from the third day, none of them returned. Finally, a young man came to work. Finally, one young man came. The rich man told him to take some gravel stones and dump them a little far away. The next day, he asked him to bring the same stones back to the original place. He repeated this work for an entire week. On Sunday, he gave the young man a holiday and paid him his weekly salary. He did not expect the young man to come back on Monday. But the young man came to work at the appointed time on Monday morning. Why? For what? Without asking any questions, he faithfully obeyed the master's order, and the young man was given a high-level job that suited his education and skills. He trusted him with accounts worth lakhs of rupees and gave him important and confidential responsibilities.
As sin increased on earth, God became determined to destroy the world and spoke to Noah, a man of God. There is going to be continuous rain, so he said to build an ark to save him and his family from that destruction. Noah did exactly as the Lord had told him without asking any questions. He was saved from destruction.
The Lord told Abraham to take his son, who was born at the age of 100, to Mount Moriah and sacrifice him. Abraham obeyed the Lord's word without even telling his wife, thinking that if he told her, she would cry and stop him, so he took two of his servants and left early in the morning. The Lord turned his unquestioning obedience into a blessing. Abraham obeyed the voice of the Lord without knowing where he was going, and he obeyed the word of God, setting an example for all of us.
If there is half-hearted obedience in a person's life, it is dangerous. Let us also become those who listen to the voice of God and do His will every day, and enjoy the greater blessings that God gives.
