Let's Do It Properly
"Let all things be done decently and in order" - 1 Cor. 14:40
One morning, John was trying to push a large box full of books through the front door of his house. His neighbour, Sebastian, who was watching, ran to help him. John was overjoyed to see Sebastian come to his aid.
Then the two of them pushed the box together. But they could only move the box an inch. Sebastian, who was very tired, looked at his friend John and said, "Let's take a 5-minute break and then push it. We can somehow push the box out of the house." John was shocked to hear that. He said, "I didn't push the box out of the house, I was just pushing it inside the house." Only then did they understand the mystery of the box moving only an inch despite trying for a long time.
John was pushing the box inside. Sebastiano was pushing the box out. How could it move? After a while, the two of them pushed it in again. Their joint effort bore fruit. Now they were able to move the box to its proper place. To be successful in what we do, we must not only work together, but we must also work with one purpose.
Our sole purpose in life should be to glorify God. In 1 Cor. 14:26, the apostle Paul explains that when believers gather, each has a different role one sings, one teaches, one shares a revelation, one speaks in tongues, one interprets. What is this, brothers? “Let all things be done for the edification of God," writes the apostle Paul
We should not think that what I do is the only important thing or the right thing. That is seeking self-glorification. Whether it is a family or a church, it is a blessing when we work together with one mind and one purpose for the glory of God's name. Hating our own will makes us spiritual. Let us hate our own will and surrender ourselves to do the will of God. Let us fulfill the will of God.
Let us eliminate self!
Let us protect the welfare of others!
