The Greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven

 

“And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me” - Matthew 18:5

 

Today is Children's Day. Today, it would be very appropriate to think about how God views children. Our Savior, Jesus Christ, taught us the loving command during His earthly ministry, "Let the little children come to me; do not hinder them." And according to the truth written in Matt. 18, every individual can enter the kingdom of heaven only as a little child. Therefore, it is said that whoever humbles himself like this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. This calls us to live a life of innocence like little children. The Bible also says that if anyone welcomes a child in Jesus’ name, it is as if they are welcoming Jesus Himself.

 

So, parents, teachers, and mentors who care for children should do so with love, without showing favouritism or judging them. The same chapter also warns that we must not cause any child to stumble or go astray. It says that if someone leads a child to sin, it would be better for that person to have a large stone tied around their neck and be drowned in the sea. It warns that no child should be considered unimportant, and it is said that their angels always behold the presence of my Father in heaven.

 

Albert Einstein, who was underestimated in his school days, later became a great scientist and made many achievements. Therefore, we will seek to recognize, encourage, and provide opportunities for the growth and development of each child. And in the children's ministries entrusted to our hands, we will set an example for the flock, and not by compulsion but willingly, not for financial gain, but with enthusiasm, we will protect, care for, share, and proclaim the gospel to them.
