The Crippled Puppy

“He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill,…” - 1 Samuel 2:8

A boy entered a shop to buy a puppy. There were three puppies there. Each puppy cost Rs. 300, while the boy had only Rs. 200. However, he went in with the thought of looking at the puppies and leaving. He took them one by one in his hand. One of the puppies had a crippled leg. He kept looking at it. The shopkeeper said to him, "If you want to buy that puppy, I will give it to you for Rs. 200." The boy said, "I will come and buy this puppy in a while." He went home, bought a 100 rupee note from his mother, and came to the shop. He took the crippled puppy in his hand and gave the 300 rupees to the shopkeeper. He said in surprise, "That's a lame puppy. 200 rupees is enough for this." Then the boy lifted the right side of his pants and showed him his leg. He did not have a right leg, but a wooden leg. He said, “Sir, I am disabled. People look down on me for that, and it hurts me deeply. I don’t want to look down on this puppy just because it has a disability

One of the patriarchs was Jacob. His wives were Rachel and Leah. Jacob loved Rachel more than Leah and then served Laban for seven years. Leah, who was shy, was considered insignificant. She may have been considered insignificant because of a defect in her eyesight or for some other reason. The Lord saw this and made her pregnant. Rachel was barren for many years. Leah gave birth to four sons. Thus, the Lord increased the offspring of the woman who was considered insignificant due to her disability.

Dear Beloved ones! Do not underestimate yourself in any situation. Do not underestimate others. Because those born with physical disabilities are also created in the image of God. God has placed some special ability in all those created in the image of God in this world. A low opinion of yourself will stop your progress and steal your joy. Those who say “Goodbye!” to self-pity and inferiority will be the ones who achieve great things in life
