Let's learn to say NO!

“…Get her for me; for she pleaseth me well” - Judges 14:3

Once, a little lamb was grazing happily in a lush green forest. It wandered here and there, eating wherever it liked. After some time, it began to feel thirsty. Although there were wells all around, it could not find water anywhere. After going a little further, there was a big well. There was water inside the well. Green grass was also growing on the side of its wall. As soon as the lamb saw it, it thought that it had found water to drink, and it was happy to think that it could also eat the green grass around the water. There were steps inside the well. It slowly descended through it. It grazed on the green grass and drank water until it reached the bottom of the well. The thirst was well quenched, so it tried to climb the stairs. Unfortunately, it could not climb, since the gap between the steps was wide and high for its small legs. So the lamb started screaming. It was only the next day that it was found by its owner. Yes, we should not desire to achieve everything that is beautiful to the eyes right away.

We know Samson in the Old Testament. The angel of the Lord said about Samson, "No razor shall come on his head, for the child shall be a Nazarite to God from the womb, and he shall begin to save Israel out of the hand of the Philistines." But when Samson grew up, he went to Timnah and saw a woman there among the daughters of the Philistines, and he said, "She pleases me; I must get her for myself." Thus, Samson lost God's plan for him.

Dear Beloved ones! God places His plan on us before we are born. He guides us as if we are in accordance with that divine plan. Samson disobeyed his parents and said that the girl was pleasing to his eyes and went away from God's plan. We too sometimes desire everything we see as soon as we see it and want to achieve it. We should think about whether this is what we need. Let’s learn to say a firm “NO” to things that may lead us away from God’s will.
