The Hand of the Lord
“…and thy right hand hath holden me up…” - Ps. 18:35
A glass bridge has been built in China between two mountains. It is thousands of feet high above the ground. Many who have seen it say that walking on it feels like walking in the air. A man who wanted to see this went there with his friends. When he walked on the glass bridge, he could not see the glass properly. Looking down through the glass, he saw only a deep valley. Yes, when he saw all the mountains, plants, and trees below, he refused to go there, thinking that if he fell, not a single bone would be left. He refused to step onto the bridge. But his friends urged him, and finally, he held on tightly to the side rail and began to walk very slowly.
Even though there is a deep valley below, he does not think that there is a glass in the middle supporting him. Even though he feels like stepping on the glass, his eyes only see the depth and danger beneath. Fear also arises in his heart.
But David is different. Even after the Lord anointed David as king, David wanders like a nomad for about 7 years. He wanders around in the wilderness, caves, and foreign lands. King Saul wants to take David’s life. He wants his son to be king. David wanders in the wilderness. His mind is troubled, his body is weak, sometimes Saul is chasing him, and his soul is about to leave him. Yet David says, “Your right hand upholds me.” While in the wilderness of Judah, he says, “My soul clings to you continually; your right hand upholds me” (Ps. 63:8).
Dear Beloved, we too are living our lives as if we are walking on that glass bridge. Do our eyes see the trouble and destruction below us? Do not just believe in what you see with your eyes but realize the presence of God working within your soul and move forward. Hold the hand of the Lord and trust in Him alone and move forward without fear like David. Let our eyes look at the hand of the Lord who protects us like a glass that protects us from falling. You will definitely inherit the blessings that God has for you.
