The Old Bicycle and its Owner

“...We know that all things work together for good to those who love God…" - Romans 8:28

When the loud noise of "click"... "click"... was heard, all the children and adults playing on the street laughed, and Balu got very angry. Looking at his father, he scolded him, "Will you never change this bicycle? It's a disgrace." Who is that, Balu? What happened? You must be thinking, little kids! Let's get into the story.

Balu was studying in eighth grade and lived in a small village with his parents. His father made a living by collecting old iron and plastic items, loading them onto his bicycle, and selling them. That bicycle was very old, and its bell was even worse! Whenever he rang the bell, the entire village could hear it and everyone would laugh. Balu kept begging his father, “please buy a good bicycle!”. His father replied, “Son, I don’t have enough money now, but Jesus will surely provide.

The next morning, on his way to work, Balu’s father stopped by the church. He prayed, “Lord Jesus, please help me earn at least one hundred rupees today. If I do, I’ll give ten rupees as a tithe.” He then came out only to find that his bicycle was gone! Father was shocked. The one bicycle that was used for income had also disappeared just like this, He said Lord, I went to pray and this is what happened. He went home confused. His wife asked him, "Where is your bicycle?" He told her everything that had happened. Two days later, when he was walking on the shopping street, he heard the bell of his bicycle and turned around to see that a thief had stolen his bicycle. He stopped him and said, "This is my bicycle." When he refused to give it to him, a fight broke out between the two. The police took both of them to the police station and questioned them. A policeman said, "We have been looking for this thief for a long time. Now, thanks to you, he has been caught. We will give you a special reward for that and they gave him 5000 rupees." He happily accepted it and went straight to the church, paid 500 rupees as tithe and also bought a new bicycle and thanked Jesus.
